GIF animation jam session LIVE

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The GIF animation jam session is an open workshop that ignites a spark of life into Public Domain images. Participants will be working on Public Domain images found online, turning them into animated GIFs. Animated GIFs are playful and easy to make without prior experience, and provide a way to move away from still pictures as static items. We provide a shared space for exploring archival treasures, opening the door to new interpretations of the past. Finished animated GIFs will be uploaded to a blog and projected large on a screen. A selection of the animated GIFs will then be featured on The Public Domain Review. Important: bring your own laptop!

Please see the Open GIFs blog for inspirational materials and instructions on how to make animated GIFs:

This session was co-created by the Public Domain Open Knowledge Working Group. This session remains editorially independent as it was put together in consultation with the Programme Team following the same guidelines as for other sessions at the festival.
