The Open Design Definition has been an open source and collaborative effort from the start, in order to build a community around the discussion of Open Design and its implications. The Open Design Definition is an effort to define collaboratively and mark a fix point in the development of Open Design: a piece of knowledge that is important for open design knowledge to be developed and shared openly.

The Open Design Definition is still under development and need your help for improvement! After discussing it online and at many events including Open Knowledge Festival 2012, together we will discuss it and write it in order to reach a stable version. Further discussion on how to follow its development or on its implementation and related projects may also be part of the workshop.

There is an increasing discussion about Open Design, but many times there are different definitions about it, and still it is not clear how to manage and publish design projects as Open Design. With the Open Design Definition we are collaboratively filling this gap, and a final workshop would help us fill the missing point and further discuss it.

We expect the definition to reach at least version 0.5 if not already 1.0 (current version is 0.3)! The participants will discuss the definition, post comments, make improvements and write the definition together with the facilitators.
