Ground-up open data intermediaries – Who? Where? How?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This session will look at the idea of open data intermediaries and infomediaries: exploring the issue from the ground up, rather than starting from data and tracing down.

Drawing on work across four or more continents, the session will ask: Who are the intermediaries? What are their and our incentives and capacities etc? How can we make sure we have the right models for intermediaries in the right places?

The session will offer rich insights into how open data could be put to use in different contexts across the globe, as well as exploring some of the challenges and barriers to data demand, access and use.

This will be a participative workshop session - with opportunities to share your experience, and build a global conversation around appropriate intermediary action for open data.

The session will be facilitated by members of the Exploring the Emerging Impacts of Open Data in Developing Countries (ODDC) research network. Network members, drawn from a wide range of backgrounds in academia, technology and social action, have spent the last year exploring use of open data in diverse contexts across the globe.

Session hashtag: #oddc

This session was co-created by the Open Development Open Knowledge Working Group. This session remains editorially independent as it was put together in consultation with the Programme Team following the same guidelines as for other sessions at the festival.
